The veteran actor talks to Heather Neill about his latest book, Performing Shakespeare (Nick Hern), which covers character, verse speaking and playing Shakespeare in broad daylight, as well as in translation.
There are archetypes in Shakespeare’s play, but the joy is watching him subvert these archetypes, turning for example the Jew of Malta into Shylock.
