in Actors and Performers, Asian Voices, New Writing
16th April 2013
ASIAN VOICES: GOLDY NOTAY
The actor talks to Suman Bhuchar about her latest role for Kali theatre company, Parveen the ambitious Muslim lawyer in Jabine Chaudri’s My Daughter’s Trial (Brown’s Courtrooms, London, then touring). This site-specific work is about Parveen’s dilemma about whether to section her own mentally sick mother. Recorded: 13 April 2013.
I love what Kali represent. They’re torchbearers really for female writers – South Asian writers, who perhaps of these wouldn’t be able to have a voice, or a voice that heard everywhere by the public at large. They’re fearless really so they don’t hold back.
