BLACK VOICES: TALAWA
Artistic Director Patricia Cumper and Executive Director Deborah Sawyerr talk to Steven Luckie about the ups and downs of Talawa, a black theatre company which was set up in 1986 by Yvonne Brewster. They also outline their future plans.
To decide on their name, they looked at themselves and said, ‘We’re short but feisty’, and that’s exactly what the word Talawa means.
