The alternative theatre impresario, who set up the New End fringe theatre in an abandoned morgue in 1974, talks to her grand-daughter Polly Pearson about the shows, finances and audiences of the 1970s.
My main aim was to create a really comfortable fringe theatre, and to do exceptional work – which we did.
