INTERVIEW: DAVID BYRNE. In 2024, David Byrne left the small New Diorama Theatre in London – which he’d transformed into a powerhouse of new work by exciting young artists and companies – to take up the role of artistic director of the Royal Court Theatre. His first year there has seen huge hits like Mark Rosenblatt’s Giant, about Roald Dahl. He talks about the building’s history, and his plans to shake up the way new writing is discovered, nurtured and staged.
