Tim Crouch describes his RSC Shakespeare solo, I, Cinna (The Poet)
in Actors and Performers, Directors, Playwrights, Shakespeare and Renaissance Drama, Youth Theatre
21st June 2012
INTERVIEW: TIM CROUCH
The leading experimental theatre-maker talks to Dominic Cavendish about the latest in his series of solo shows turning the spot-light on a minor character in Shakespeare: I, Cinna (The Poet), a commission from the RSC to tie in with its revival of Julius Caesar, starring the actor Jude Owusu – and being streamed to schools around the UK on 2 July. Recorded at the RSC, 20 June 2012.
You perceive the whole of Julius Caesar through the eyes of Cinna the Poet, because after that, it’s the last two acts of the play – we go into a very different world. Without Cinna, we would think very differently about the action of the play.
