Director Suba Das tells Sophie Reynolds about the first act of Othello, which he directed as a “site specific horror experience” at the Rose Theatre, Bankside, in 2011. One of the things Shakespeare is doing is giving you the character who makes things happen… you get a character who is seen to be pushing all of those things to their resolution or to their ultimate point, and that’s incredibly dynamic to watch.
